We spent this past weekend in Calhoun for Chris and Allison's wedding weekend. Craig was in the wedding, so we attended the rehearsal dinner on Friday night. We took Camden with us because I want him to be used to being around a lot of people. I have never wanted to be the type of mom that keeps their baby in the house all day; Camden and I have been on the go since his first week. He has definitely had his moments (screaming in Hobby Lobby led to everyone letting us cut to the front of the line), but on Friday night he was PERFECT! It's amazing to see how much he has changed in the last 3 months, and how much better he has gotten while we are out. We were gone for almost 4 hours and he didn't make a sound the entire time. We are so incredibly lucky to have such an easy-going and happy baby!
Saturday night was the wedding. It was a beautiful backyard wedding and I was so happy the weather cooperated for the happy couple! Everything was gorgeous! Every time I attend a wedding or see wedding pictures, I want to plan a wedding again.
On Sunday afternoon we took Camden out on a boat for the first time. My sister and brother-in-law have a boat, and they invited us to spend the afternoon on the lake. I wasn't sure how he would do, but assumed that he would love the sound of the water and the movement of the boat. Again, he did AWESOME! His little lifejacket worked perfectly, even though it looked somewhat uncomfortable :) When we got back to Craig's parents house, I took him in their swimming pool for the first time. He did so good and loved the water! I am trying to get him ready for our beach trip at the end of July!

Babies and Blogs
I have always enjoyed reading other people's blogs, but have never taken the time to start my own. Before Camden, I never really had anything that was interesting enough to write about. While my life may not be interesting to other's even now that Camden is here, I wanted to be able to document my memories with him. I regret waiting until now to start writing about our life because he has already filled me life with so much joy.
Even though Camden is only 3 months old, I really don't remember what life was like before he was born. Although I sometimes miss how easy going life was before, I wouldn't change our life with our sweet boy for anything. It's amazing how much happiness a baby can bring and the instant love I felt for him. I had always heard people tell me how much love you feel as soon as your baby is born, but I truly didn't know the feeling until I heard Camden cry for the first time.

Chicken Nuggets and Contractions
I've been meaning to write about Camden's arrival for awhile but time has gone by so incredibly fast. These last 3 months have seriously gone by faster than any other 3 months in my life. I've always heard that the older you get, the faster time goes by and that when you have kids time goes by even faster. I've quickly learned that this is true. So, while it may not be the most action packed birth story, I will always consider it one of the best days of my life.
At my 39 week doctor's appointment, my OB told me that Camden went from measuring on schedule to measuring 43 weeks. From the very beginning she had told me that a C-section may be possible, but he had been measuring average most of my pregnancy so towards the end I had ruled that option out. Since he was measuring so big she wanted to go ahead and schedule a C-section. Of course I had mixed feelings about everything, but I wanted to do what was best for Camden and I. So, we scheduled our C-section on his due date-March 25th, 2011. For those of you that know me, I am an extreme planner. I love having a routine and a schedule to follow and all along had been hoping that Camden would decide to arrive on his due date. My birthday is on November 25th, my dad's is September 25th, my nana's was October 25th (and Craig added that Jesus Christ, our Lord Savior was born on December 25th) ....So, I have a thing with the 25th :) I left my appointment that day with mixed feelings about everything but was super excited to meet my sweet boy at the end of the week!
The next morning I woke up bleeding and was freaking out. It took forever to actually get ahold of my doctor, but she assured me that everything was okay. Craig and I had already gotten subs for that day because I wasn't sure what was going on, so we ended up just having a day to ourselves. Looking back, I am really thankful for that day because it was our last full day together, just the two of us.
I went back to work on Wednesday to finish everything up with my classroom and get everything ready for my maternity leave. That was a very long day because I helped my supply teacher with everything and report cards were going home the next day. I ended up staying late at school in order to finish everything, and since Craig had class that night I decided to get McDonalds for dinner. Had to live up the end of my pregnancy and eat whatever I wanted while I could! :) I went home with my nuggets and flurry and relaxed on the couch. I was exhausted, but didn't really notice anything different. I had been extremely uncomfortable and tired for the last couple of weeks, so nothing was out of the ordinary. My pre-op was scheduled for the next day, so Craig and I went to bed later than normal because we didn't have to get up super early for school. Little did I know I would be getting up much earlier than I did on a normal day! At around 1:30am I woke up to go to the bathroom (which all you moms know is a constant battle during pregnancy). When I was getting back into bed, I felt something but wasn't really sure what it was (I later found out that my water had ruptured and that is what I felt). Back in bed, I just couldn't get comfortable and kept feeling pains every so often. During the last month or so of my pregnancy I was so worried about what contractions would feel like. I like knowing what things are going to feel like, and I hated not knowing exactly what to expect. So, I ended up pacing the room for awhile then finally bringing a blanket and pillow (and a towel in case my water actually broke) to the couch downstairs and thought I would just sleep down there. I had a scheduled C-section on Friday afternoon, so I didn't think there was any way that I would be going into labor in the middle of the night on Wednesday. After continuing to have contractions for awhile, I decided to wake Craig up and tell him we needed to head to the hospital. I wasn't sure if what I was experiencing was true labor or if I was second guessing myself, but I thought it was best that we go to the hospital, just in case.
We got to the hospital at around 3:15am and ended up having to register. I guess we missed the part at our hospital tour that we were actually able to pre-register. During this time, another pregnant woman was wheeled into the hospital and was definitely in labor! I felt silly being there because I definitely didn't feel as bad as she did. (I'm pretty sure she ended up delivering in the triage). After we finished registering we went upstairs to the triage room so that I could get checked out. The nurse told me that I was dilated to 4cm and after doing 2 different tests to check for amniotic fluid, confirmed that my water had ruptured. She had spoke with Dr. Pitcher, and I had an emergency C-section scheduled for 6:00am. Tons of emotions filled that little room. I was in a lot of pain from the contractions (couldn't imagine giving birth naturally with no drugs!), super excited to meet Camden, but also really nervous about the C-section. Another nurse came in to get my IV's ready, she did a horrible job and ended up really bruising my wrist. It took her a couple of times poking me, but she finally finished and we were ready to head to the labor and delivery room for my epidural. I had also been really nervous about this part of the labor experience because I wasn't sure what to expect. It ended up not being as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it seemed to last awhile! After the anesthesiologist was finished with everything and Dr. Pitcher arrived, we were ready to meet my baby!
They wheeled me into the surgery room and got everything prepared. Although I was completely awake for everything, this is the part that everything started to blur together. The actual surgery itself did not take long at all. Camden was born at 6:16am and as soon as I saw him I was in tears. I will never forget this moment for the rest of my life. He was completely perfect and weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and was 20 inches long. It felt like an eternity while the nurses were cleaning him up and the doctors were getting me fixed up. This is the point that I started getting sick. I expected to be nauseous after the surgery because of what I had heard from other people and knowing my own stomach. However, I didn't expect to be as sick as I was. I started throwing up right after he was born and remained sick for the rest of the day. I got to hold Camden for the first time when they wheeled me back into the labor and delivery room. After carrying him for 40 weeks, he was finally here and completely perfect!
I was sick for the rest of the day and hate that I didn't get to enjoy my first day with Camden as much as I wanted to. I know for our next baby that I have a weird reaction to morphine and I will have to take something else. I also know exactly what medicine to ask for if I do feel sick. I wasn't really up for many visitors that day, other than our family. Both sets of grandparents were in the waiting room, and I hate that they were not able to come meet Camden as soon as he was born. I was extremely hot and couldn't get cool and the medicine also made me very shaky. Finally, after a nap and some good medicine I started feeling much better. I was able to walk around that night and get to enjoy my precious baby. We stayed in the hospital until Sunday afternoon and had such a wonderful experience. The time in the hospital went by very fast and before we knew it we were headed home with Camden!
So, like I said, it wasn't super exciting or a crazy birth experience, but it was our experience and a day that I will never forget!
